ReviewVault - Privacy Policy

ReviewVault ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install and use the ReviewVault app ("the App") on your Shopify store.

1. Information We Collect

When you install and use ReviewVault, we collect the following types of information:

A. Information from Shopify

When you install the App, we are automatically provided with certain information from your Shopify account:

  • Store Information: Your shop domain (e.g., your-store.myshopify.com).
  • Contact Information: The email address and name associated with your Shopify account, which we use strictly for essential app lifecycle communications (e.g., welcome emails, billing updates, and uninstall confirmations).

B. Information from eBay

To provide the core functionality of the App (displaying your eBay feedback on your Shopify store), we require you to authorize a connection to your eBay seller account via OAuth. Through this connection, we collect:

  • Authentication Tokens: Secure tokens that allow us to fetch your data on your behalf. These tokens are encrypted at rest in our database.
  • Public Feedback Data: We pull your publicly available eBay feedback, which includes the buyer's username (often partially redacted by eBay), the buyer's feedback score, the comment left, the rating type (Positive, Neutral, Negative), the item title, the item price, and the date of the review.

C. Information You Provide Directly

  • Any configuration settings you choose within the App (e.g., layout preferences, color choices, and review filters).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide the Service: To fetch, store, and display your eBay feedback securely on your Shopify storefront.
  • To Maintain Your Account: To authenticate your shop, manage your billing plan, and keep your eBay connection active.
  • To Communicate with You: To send you necessary transactional emails (such as installation welcomes or cancellation notices) and to provide customer support.
  • To Improve the App: To analyze app usage and errors to improve performance and user experience.

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, nor do we access or modify your eBay listings, inventory, or orders.

3. Sharing Your Information

We respect your privacy and do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or store information to third parties.

We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party services that help us operate our infrastructure (e.g., secure database hosting or transactional email providers). These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data only for as long as you have the App installed on your Shopify store.

  • Upon Uninstallation: If you uninstall the App from your Shopify admin, we receive an automated webhook from Shopify (app/uninstalled). Upon receiving this, we immediately and permanently delete your shop data, including your eBay authentication tokens, configuration settings, and all stored eBay reviews.
  • Encrypted Storage: All sensitive data, including your Shopify access tokens and eBay OAuth tokens, are encrypted at rest while stored in our database.

5. Your Rights and Shopify GDPR/CCPA Compliance

If you are a resident of certain territories (such as the European Economic Area or California), you have specific rights regarding your personal data.

ReviewVault fully supports and complies with Shopify's mandatory data privacy webhooks:

  • Customer Data Request (customers/data_request): If a customer requests their data from your store, Shopify notifies us. ReviewVault does not store your end-customers' personal data, as we only display your eBay feedback.
  • Customer Redact (customers/redact): If a customer requests the deletion of their data, we will process the request in accordance with Shopify's guidelines.
  • Shop Redact (shop/redact): If you request the deletion of your shop data, or 48 hours after you uninstall the app, we permanently delete your information from our systems.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy or by sending an email to the store owner.
